Pre-Elementary Section

 

This is meant for children between 3 to 6 years of age. The full cycle at Pre- Elementary school consists of 3 years. The first section is for 3/4 year old children, the second section for 4/5 year olds and the third section for 5/6 year olds.
The general aim of the Pre-Elementary school is to encourage each child to have a successful learning experience from all points of view.

In a conducive  environment, the teachers take care to  organise daily activities which encourage the children to be progressively independent.
One of the specific aims of the school  is the mastery of the French language which  depends on the proper structuring of the childrens’ mother tongue,Tamil . In this context  bilingualism is taken into account in learning situations.
During the three years at Pre-Elementary school Tamil is integrated in the learning process by Tamil teachers who work in close collaboration with the class teachers.
The activities are planned out with the teachers of the Elementary school to ensure  a continuity in the learning process. 
In the Pre-Elementary school these aspects are stressed upon :
• The development of oral skills
• The acquisition of words and sentences which are useful for expressing oneself in class
• The learning of phonology and accent patterns
• An initiation to the reality and the culture of the country or countries where the language is used
