Comme la figure du monstre biblique Leviathan qu'elle a élevée à la hauteur d'un véritable mythe, l'oeuvre de Hobbes
constitue un point de repère essentiel dans le panorama européen de la pensée politique, entre Tönnies et Collingwood. De
l'Allemagne à l'Italie, en passant par la France et la Grande-Bretagne, les arguments du philosophe anglais ont été
commentés, repris, critiqués et déformés par les théoriciens du politique. L'objet du présent colloque est d'interroger cette
référence insistante du point de vue des apories de la théorie politique. Il s'agira ainsi d'analyser les principaux concepts du
politique (souveraineté, représentation, etc.) dans la perspective d'une histoire de la réception.

Like the image of the biblical monster Leviathan that it has raised to mythical status, Hobbes's work constitutes an essential
reference point in the panaroma of European political thought. From Germany to Italy, via France and Great Britain, the
arguments of the English philosopher have been commented upon, taken up, criticised, and distorted by political theorists.
The purpose of this colloquium is to investigate the appropriation of Hobbes's work from the standpoint of problems of
political theory. The main concepts of politics (sovereignty, representation, etc.) will be analysed from the point of view of
the reception of Hobbes's work.

Hobbes Schriften und das durch sie beinahe zur Legende gewordene Bild vom biblischen Monstrum Leviathan stellen einen
zentralen Orientierungspunkt im politischen Denken Europas von Tönnies bis Collingwood dar. In Deutschland,
Großbritanien, Frankreich und Italien wurden Hobbes' Argumente durch die politischen Theorien des 20. Jhd. intensiv
interpretiert, vertreten, kritisiert, aber auch mißverstanden. Diese Tagung wird diese Rezeption - insbesondere die
wichtigsten Begriffe der Hobbeschen Philosophie : Souveränität, Repräsentation usw. - untersuchen ; Schwerpunkt der
Tagung werden die Aporien der Hobbeschen politischen Theorie sein
